Our Story
Every church has a beginning. For Gospel Community Church, that beginning started on May 7, 2022, when a group of people gathered with a shared desire—to share God’s love and the story of Jesus with the city of Winchester.
What began as a simple gathering of people with a common calling was the first step in what God would continue to build. There was a vision to see a local church take root in Winchester—a church centered on Jesus, shaped by grace, and committed to loving the community around us.
Several people from Gospel Community Church were sent out from Hope in the Valley Baptist Church to become the first seeds of this new local church. Recognizing the need for a local church in Winchester, Hope in the Valley Baptist Church called Pastor Michael Flynn to lead this effort and help guide the formation of this new community.
From those early days, Gospel Community Church began growing together—not just as a group that gathered, but as a family learning what it means to follow Jesus together. Through worship, relationships, and the everyday moments of church life, God began shaping a community built around grace, growth, and a desire to become more like Christ.
Over the past four years, we have worshiped together, walked through seasons of growth, and built a culture that encourages people to know Jesus more deeply and grow in their relationship with Him. We have seen the importance of gathering together, caring for one another, and creating a place where people can experience the love and grace of God.
While we celebrate where God has brought us, we recognize that our story is still being written. Gospel Community Church continues to long for the opportunity to reach the community of Winchester and share the truth that God loves this city and the people who call it home.
Our desire is not simply to be a church that gathers on Sundays, but a church that reflects Jesus throughout the week. We are passionate about understanding the story of Jesus, living out His love through hospitality, building people up to lead others like Jesus, and engaging the community around us with the same compassion and purpose that Jesus showed.
As we look back on where we started, we are reminded of God's faithfulness. What began as a small gathering of people with a shared hope has become a growing community committed to following Jesus and making His love known.
We are grateful for every person who has been part of this journey, for every moment of growth, and for every opportunity God has given us to serve Winchester. We look forward with hope and expectation, trusting that the same God who guided our beginning will continue to lead us into the future.
