The Love of God: April 19, 2026

Experiencing the Fullness

This past Sunday, Pastor Michael shared a powerful message centered on the foundational truth of our faith: the incredible love of God. While many of us know "in our heads" that God loves us, the goal of this sermon was to help that truth travel the longest eighteen inches in the world—from our heads to our hearts.

More Than a Bumper Sticker

Pastor Michael opened with a beautiful prayer from Ephesians 3, emphasizing that knowing God's love isn't just a "starting point" we eventually leave behind for "deeper" things. Instead, it is the very road we travel. To truly comprehend the "length, width, height, and depth" of Christ's love is a transformative experience that goes far beyond a simple tagline or bumper sticker.

When we are firmly established in this love, we open ourselves up to being filled with the fullness of God.

A Lavish Kind of Love

Using a sweet (literally!) analogy, Pastor Michael described God's love not like a "naked cake" with a thin layer of frosting, but like a tub of frosting poured on until it forms a dome.

  • Adoption: We aren't just tolerated; we are adopted into His family with all the rights, titles, and inheritance of true children.

  • Sacrifice: We see the ultimate evidence of this love in the Gospel—that while we were still distant, He sent His Son as a sacrifice for us.

Putting Love into Practice

How do we live this out during the week? Pastor Michael gave us a few "mid-sermon" application points to carry home:

  1. Confess Jesus: Lean into His love by talking about Him and making Him your resting place.

  2. Make Margin: Create "quiet space" in your life. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap and simply rest in His presence, giving God the room to speak to you.

  3. Love Reciprocally: Love is meant to be a two-way street. As we receive His love, we naturally respond by loving Him back and, in turn, loving our neighbors.

The Bottom Line

If you’re struggling to love others right now, the answer isn't necessarily "trying harder" to be obedient—it’s diving deeper into the love of God. When you are filled with His resource of love, it naturally overflows to everyone around you.

Let's make it our goal this week to explore those depths and live as people who are truly "rooted and established" in Love.
