What Do We Do Now? Jume 14, 2026
This week, Pastor Michael Flynn preached through Acts 1:11-26, speaking on the beginning of the Early Church and the time between Jesus’s Ascension and Pentecost.
When Jesus says to wait, that does not mean that we are meant to do nothing. It is a time to pray and be in communion with God and each other. The moment of in-between that the apostles were going through led them to prayer and community in the upper room.
Even before the church was filled with power, the people who followed Jesus were deeply reliant on his Word. In our moments of waiting, we need to be like the Early Church, leaning on Jesus’s teaching and putting our faith in him. The Early Church received the news of Judas’s death and they immediately fell back on the Bible, Peter quoting Psalms and reminding them that God gave them guidance.
We are tasked with living our life following the example of the Early Church: Seek God’s guidance, read his Word, and live out the mission that we have been tasked with.
