He is Risen: Finding Our Identity in Christ

Happy Easter! Today at Gospel Community Church, Pastor Michael shared a powerful message about the heartbeat of our faith: the resurrection of Jesus. While the world's religions are often based on "dead people" or "vague ideas," Christianity is distinctly rooted in the historical reality of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Beyond the Rules

It’s easy to fall into the trap of legalism—trying to be "good enough" through human commands and regulations. Pastor Michael noted that in our culture, we often focus so much on simply "not sinning" that we miss the point.

Living in Christ isn't about more rules. In fact, the Christian life becomes extraordinarily easy when the goal is simply to be with Jesus. All the holiness we strive for is given freely when we step into His presence.

A New Identity

If you have trusted Jesus, you aren't just a better version of yourself; you are a brand-new person. Pastor Michael highlighted several truths about our new identity:

  • Resurrection Life: Just as God brought Jesus back to life, you have that same resurrection life inside of you.

  • A "Hidden" Life: Your new life is "hidden" with Christ, meaning it is protected, guarded, and tucked safely near His heart.

  • Already Perfect: While we still wait for our glorified bodies, we are already seen as perfect in Christ’s sight.

Eyes Up

How do we live this out when we feel like a "tired community"? The secret is found in Colossians 3: "Seek the things above".

By fixing our eyes on Jesus and living a life of constant worship—talking to Him and admiring Him throughout our day—the worries of the world begin to fade. When we stop striving in vain and start resting in His finished work, we find the "life abundant" that cures even the deepest burnout.

Let’s keep our minds on Him this week. He is risen!
