Stepping Out of Comfort and Living Boldly
In a powerful message on Acts chapter 9, Pastor Michael took us through the dramatic transformation of Saul—the church’s former enemy who became one of its greatest allies. Immediately after experiencing a life-changing encounter with Jesus, Saul didn’t play it safe. He went straight into synagogues, proclaiming boldly that Jesus is the Son of God and using the Scriptures to prove He is the Messiah.
Living out that truth wasn't easy for Saul. His message met immediate resistance:
He faced plot after plot against his life, escaping one city in a basket over the wall, only to face heavy suspicion from believers in Jerusalem until Barnabas stood up for him.
Everywhere he went, he conversed, debated, and spoke with total conviction.
Despite constant danger and pushback, he kept sharing the gospel over and over again.
Counting the Cost
Pastor Michael reminded us that sharing the gospel inherently requires us to "die to ourselves". It means trading our deep love of comfort, fears of rejection, and desire to people-lease for something far greater—God's kingdom.
While most of us won't have to flee a city in a basket, we do face everyday fears: What if I say the wrong thing? What if things get awkward? What if I lose a connection? But when we place the glory of Jesus above our comfort, something incredible happens. Just as in the early church, bold witnesses lead to a strengthened, peaceful, and growing community of believers.
A Challenge for the Week
We aren't all called to be full-time evangelists, but we are all called to be witnesses. Where is God asking you to step out of your comfort zone this week? Let's pray for the Holy Spirit to give us the courage to speak up, share our hope, and point people to Jesus—no matter the personal cost.
